Part Time, Kitchen Assistant

We are looking for a part time assistant to join our fantastic kitchen team.  If you have high standards, a great team spirit and a willingness to learn we would like to hear from you.

We are extremely proud to have been in the heart of the community for older people for over 30 years, bringing a sense of belonging, companionship, fun and enjoyment to those in their golden years. 

Our close knit and busy kitchen is at the centre of this; preparing vital meals, which we deliver to the most vulnerable, as well as lunches for those who come to our social centre. 

As the Kitchen Assistant, you will be integral in our day to day running. 

Main duties will include:

  • Helping to prepare nutritionally well-balanced meals under the guidance of our head chef

  • Ensuring the correct use of all machinery and equipment

  • General housekeeping including cleaning to help maintain a safe and healthy environment

  • Washing up when required

  • Assisting with the loading or unloading of deliveries and supply vehicles

  • Complying with Food Handling & Hygiene standards

  • Complying with Health & Safety regulations

  • Receiving our volunteer drivers when they arrive back from their rounds

  • Admin duties such as printing, database checking, reporting and relaying messages

  • Occasional delivery duties in the event of an emergency

Our ideal kitchen assistant will:

  • Demonstrate an ability to manage pressure, prioritise tasks and communicate effectively at all levels

  • Have a committed and organised approach

  • A Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate is desirable but not essential as full training will be provided

  • Have a full driving licence

  • Be a competent user of MS Office, in particular Word and Excel

X3 Wellbeing Assistants

The last 18 months have been incredibly difficult for us all and our world has completely changed.  Like so many we had to close our doors to help keep everyone safe.

We are absolutely delighted to have been able to reopen, welcoming back so many familiar and new faces to the point where we are now looking for three (yes you have read that correctly!) wellbeing assistants to join our special team.

This is an extremely rewarding role and we are looking for compassionate and committed individuals to help us achieve our objectives of enriching the lives of the elderly community by providing friendly, high quality services that positively contribute to maintaining each individual client’s independence, physical and mental wellbeing.

Working under the guidance and alongside our wellbeing co-ordinators, this special and varied role will include:

  • Supporting all our clients including those living with an Alzheimer’s disease or dementia diagnosis

  • Delivering a range of designated, engaging and stimulating activities

  • Actively encouraging clients to participate in activities

  • Creating relationships

  • Client reviews

  • Helping with lunchtime service

  • Assisting with photography for use in newsletters, social media, newspapers and websites

  • Some light admin duties such as printing, note taking etc

Our ideal assistants will have:

  • Confidence and experience in assisting the elderly

  • Dementia/ Alzheimer’s disease awareness/ care experience is desirable but not essential

  • Excellent communication skills

  • The desire to make a difference

  • Patience

  • Strong work ethic

  • Effective time management

  • MS Office skills including Word and Excel

What can we offer?

  • 18 hours per week initially, Tuesday – Thursday to meet the current requirements of the charity, with the view to progressing to five days a week as soon as possible
